From the classroom to ArtHouse26

I'm Nicky Hodge, a secondary Art teacher and former Head of Department with 26 years' classroom experience. I’ve taught and supported students across Key Stage 3, GCSE and A-Level Art & Design, including delivering and moderating coursework and NEA.

In my most recent school role as Head of Art, my students achieved consistently excellent results. Over the past six years, 100% of GCSE students achieved grades 5–9, while 100% of A-Level students achieved A*–B, with results consistently outperforming national averages.

These results are a reflection of the experience, knowledge and high expectations I bring to my teaching. For me, success in Art is about more than grades. It’s also about developing confident, independent young artists who can think creatively, take risks and find their own visual voice.

Why ArtHouse26?

I set up ArtHouse26 to create ready-to-use resources for other art educators, but as the business grew, I became increasingly passionate about something more personal: giving students the chance to learn and practise art in a safe, supportive setting outside the traditional classroom, whether that's home-educated students building a coursework portfolio, or students in mainstream school who want extra guidance alongside their lessons.

My teaching is rooted in real classroom experience. I understand the demands of the curriculum, what exam boards are looking for, how coursework develops over time, and how to help students develop their own ideas.

The name ArtHouse26 comes from those 26 years, a body of experience I bring into every session, whether that's a group programme, one-to-one tutoring, or a workshop.
